We make Captivated security screws and bolts in almost every size.
Captivated screws require a second “centerless grind” operation to reduce the shank to a diameter below the threads. A cover door with a threaded hole is a common application for a Captivated screw.
The idea is to put the captivated bolt fully through the threaded hole to the place where it’s unthreaded. The bolt remains in the front panel when it’s removed and won’t fall on the ground.
