Making Set Screws; The Hard Way

Making set-screws is a lost art in America. Set-screw machines are scarce in the states and mostly mass produced overseas. We figured a way to make them on our standard cold heading machines. That was actually easy, threading them was a little harder. Without a head, they don’t fit into conventional threading equipment. The appropriate machine costs over $200K…a little over budget. We found a way to insert them into a flat die threader. It took some ingenuity from our head engineer. Keep it on the quiet…it’s one of our trade secrets.
