Failure And The Fix

We posted a blog in June showing our security screws and nuts securing a bike share in Madrid. Some of the bikes were compromised shortly after our post. It turns out, our Penta- Nuts® on the front axles were ordered too big for the application, allowing someone to get vice grips around the side. Compromises don’t happen to us often, but when they do, they’re always because a wrong size was ordered or the part was not installed correctly.

Our solution for the bike share: re-engineer a Key-Rex® security drive into a small diameter nut. Problem solved and lesson learned.
